Freshest produce around straight from there garden to you love the purple tomatoes. So look forward to them every year
It's been about 3 years since my last review, time for an update. I just down't get to TonyTown that much lately but was in the area for a family gathering. I had to stop in on a Saturday morning to see what was going on. Not that much really as it's early in the growing season. I did however stop by the tent with the 'Master Gardner' advice sign. I asked about separating a Dianthus plant in a pot and got some good guidance and it was all 'free'! Thank you Ladies!
We love this place! Not a large farmer's market, but we have never walked out empty-handed. You can find a nice variety of vegetables and fruits, grown locally by friendly farmers, but also preserves, natural soaps, meats, flowers, and even jewelry! Prices are reasonable, so there is every reason to eat fresh and healthy! One more note: The flower farmer has some beautiful sunflowers this time of year Enjoy!
I hate that this wonderful, truly local farmers market's rating is being dragged down by a couple of idiots who insist judging it by standards that are more appropriate for a shooting range and supermarket produce section. If you go in April, there will be limited selection as everything must be locally grown - no South American or even Florida produce allowed. And, I'm not anti-2nd amendment, but your produce isn't going to be less fresh and tasty if you aren't allowed to bring a gun with you to buy it. It's not like you have to shoot the tomatoes. Early selections include sweet potatoes, lettuce, herbs, hydroponic or green house tomatoes, jams, pickles, meat, eggs, breads, and beautiful bouquets of fresh flowers. You can also get the plants to start your own garden. Then as the season progresses more fruits and veggies become available and then sadly taper off. A poor growing season may mean that a favorite is missing (I haven't noticed any apples for the past couple of years and there weren't spring carrots last year). However, you will get knowledgeable, friendly vendors, good prices, and excellent quality for what is available. You may need to be there early to get some popular items when they first become available (e.g., blackberries, peaches, and the raspberries that I've only managed to catch once).
Love the people, all the vendors are wonderful. Love that I can get fresh produce. They also have events for the kids somedays. It is just a really nice place in general!
